Viu Manent: The source of great Malbec
Today was Michelle and Michael’s last day in Chile after their visit got short by the London legal establishment. After feasting at Casas del Bosque last weekend, we thought a second winery trip was in order so headed south to Santa Cruz, about 200km from Santiago. We visited the local museum, with its eclectic collection of paleontological and archeological artifacts, old cars, weapons, beer making equipment and horse-drawn funeral carriages. Owned by a former arms dealer, it’s considered one of the most impressive in the country and didn’t disappoint. Afterwards we visited Viu Manent, a winery in the Colchagua valley and ate excellent sea bass, crab appetizers and sipped the best Malbec (and likely 2nd best wine) we’ve had in Chile.
