28 days in Peru–comes to a close0
I’ve got about 24 hours left in Peru, most of which will be spent travelling back to Lima for the flight home. It’s been one hell of a month, with too many highlights to remember. Two weeks with Marc was tons of fun as we headed along the “Gringo Circuit” in the south and visited all the usual sights. Cuzco is a very cool city, the Inca Trail was excellent even without the spectacular Macchu Pichu at the end, Lake Titicaca was out of this world and Arequipa felt like a pulsing European city but at a third of the price. El Misti the giant volcano loomed large and I’m committed to coming back and climbing it one day.
The next 2 weeks were of a different sort, going to 18,000 ft and back in the Central Andes on my trek in the Cordillera Huayhuash. This was likely the most challenging physical experience I’ve ever had but it rewarded me with some of the best mountain scenery the world over. Two weeks out in the wild with only a guide and a donkey driver who barely speak English gave me plenty of time to think as well–for both better or worse. It’s a good thing I finished my book on day 4 of 13.
Looking forward to coming home with plenty more photos and stories to share.
